December 8 - 12, 2009 |
All Inclusive Escorted Motorcoach Tour from Fairfield Glade, TN
to Chicago. IL
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Your
Day-by-Day Itinerary:
Day 1 -
Tuesday, December 8:
Our morning departure from Fairfield Glade will take us to the highways and
byways of beautiful Tennessee, Kentucky and Indiana. A stop in Historic Downtown Scottsburg, Indiana gives you time
to lunch, stretch your legs, and browse the shops before continuing on to Carmel, Indiana and the
Doubletree Guest Suites for the night. This evening’s dinner
and entertainment is an Indianapolis tradition - A Beef & Boards Christmas - a holiday
variety show that not even Santa will
miss! (D)
Day 2 - Wednesday, December
9:
Following breakfast at our hotel, we continue our journey to Chicago - “A
Winter Wonderland for The Holiday Shopper.” Our “home away from home” for the next two nights will be the historic
Palmer House Hilton, conveniently located within walking distance to
the best attractions in the city, including Christkindlmarket Chicago. Separating itself from
the retail world that adorns the Magnificent Mile and State Street in the City,
Christkindlmarket Chicago offers visitors a unique holiday
shopping experience.

Red and white crested huts glowing with warmth and overflowing with nutcrackers, cuckoo-clocks,
beer steins, European chocolates, toys, jewelry, clothing, and a wide variety of holiday ornaments are just a few
of the items that await your arrival.
The air around the market’s plaza fills with sweet and succulent aromas wafting from spiced wine and roasting nuts.
These treats simmer alongside many other delicacies including potato pancakes, bratwurst, schnitzel, stolen,
strudel, and pretzels . German beer and hot spiced wine flow from several locations throughout the market. 65% of
the vendors are flown in from Germany giving visitors the opportunity to learn more about German
culture.

Day 3 -
Thursday, December 10:
Today is your day to see & do! Soak up Chicago on foot or wheels, solo or with a group of your traveling
friends...visit Millennium Park, The Art Institute of Chicago, or just “shop ‘till you drop!”
The Magnificent Mile is but a short walk away and our hotel is practically next door
to Macy’s State Street. With its Tiffany ceiling and celebrated window displays, Macy’s State Street, formerly Marshall Fields, is a
holiday landmark for shopping in Chicago. Each season the street-side store windows are decorated with elaborate
scenes featuring animated figures.

Dark wood paneling, white tablecloths and a magnificently decorated Christmas tree await diners in
the gorgeous Walnut Room. Frango mint pie, snowman sundaes and chicken potpie are favorites this time of year. And,
of course, the shopping is legendary with designer goods, private labels and just about every gift imaginable, all
wrapped up in festive packages at the gift-wrap center.
For
holiday shoppers, Chicago eliminates the burden of walking with a free Holiday Trolley serving major points of
attraction, including the main shopping destinations.
This evening, optional dinner and entertainment is available for Tommy Gun’s Garage. Psst...Do you know da password? Here’s your
chance to become part of this “speakeasy” offering a Roaring ‘20’s musical comedy review with da gangsters, da
flappers and you! You’ll be served great food and hooch (uh, dat’s liquor) by da gangsters and da flappers. It
will be a night to remember!

Day 4 - Friday, December
11:
You’ll be happy to know that there’s plenty of room on the motor coach to hold all those fabulous
Christmas gifts you purchased during your shopping marathon in Chicago. Traveling by motor coach definitely has its
advantages!
After bidding a fond farewell to Chicago, and saying hello to Crossville again, we have one more overnight stop to
make - a stop that is sure to please in more ways than one - the French Lick Resort in French Lick,
Indiana.

French Lick Resort reclaims the legacy of an earlier era, an age of sophisticated
tastes and exquisite attention to detail. Established in 1845, with the original east wing built in 1901,
French Lick Springs Hotel attracted
guests from around the world to experience the "miracle waters" of its nearby sulfur springs.

A recently completed renovation has restored and enhanced these famed and historic sites. French
Lick Resort offers Old World charm combined with modern elegance in dining, recreation and entertainment. Luxury,
romance, variety and mystique await you at French Lick Resort.
Dinner this evening will be in the The Grand Colonnade Restaurant. Enjoy favorites such as
brick-oven baked pizzas, a carving station, and savory rotisserie and seafood specialties. The restaurant features
a variety of cuisines including Italian, Mexican, Chinese and Southern.. The Grand Colonnade Buffet pays tribute to
the space formerly known as the Convention Hall and later as the Grand Colonnade Ballroom. It was in this very
space that Franklin Delano Roosevelt rounded up support for his party's presidential nomination during the 1931
Democratic governor's conference. A few short years later, he introduced his New Deal Platform here.

Feeling lucky? After dinner, you just might want to meander over to the casino. The casino at French Lick Resort is a 51,000 square foot Vegas-style gaming
facility all on one floor with soaring 27-foot ceilings. A newly expanded non-smoking gaming area offers the
latest state-of-the-art slot machines and live-action blackjack, roulette and craps tables. Or, you just might
want to call it a night and enjoy the elegance of your
room…
